American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72 in Mt. Carmel donates $1500 to The Thank You Foundation's Mobile Health Unit Project

CINCINNATI - February 4th, 2008 - After reading about The Thank You Foundations efforts to raise $250,000 to build a mobile health unit for the Cincinnati VA, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #72 in Mt. Carmel knew exactly what they wanted to do. They wanted to help.

The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors Poppy Day to remind America that millions have sacrificed their lives and health to keep our nation strong and free. The contributions are devoted entirely to rehabilitation and assistance for Veterans and their families. The ladies met and agreed to make a generous donation to the project from the sale of the Poppies.

On Monday Linda Smith, President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72 and 2007 Chair for Memorial Poppy Sales, Martha Mason, 2008 Chair, Memorial Poppy Sales and Marie Beckman presented the $1500 to John Guinn, President of The Thank You Foundation.

Linda Smith stated, "The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 72 in Mt. Carmel is pleased to support Cincinnati area Veterans with this $1500 contribution raised from local community donations to The Thank You Foundation. The money is designated to "The Vet Express" which will provide the capability to conduct initial health screenings for Veterans and will include such services as check ups, dental screenings and mental health services."

Over the last year the ladies spent many hours in front of the Kroger store in Mt. Carmel and the Eastgate Wal-Mart soliciting donations.

Guinn added "I am so very grateful for these ladies and their efforts. It is our hope that the unit will go a long way in helping combat PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and bring care closer to our Cincinnati area Veterans."

The Foundation has received a few individual donations and contributions from the Paul Vail Memorial VFW Post 4369 in Sharonville and the DAV Cincinnati Chapter 1. The Foundation is forming a fund committee to organize and plan fund raising activities over the next several months.

Efforts to gain personal contributions from members of Congress have proven futile. Only one member, Rep Jean Schmidt of the 2nd Congressional District has even expressed interest or concern for the project.

Anyone who is interested in helping with the committee or who would like to make a contribution can contact John Guinn directly at 513-850-4910 or by visiting the website at www.TheThankYouFoundation.org.
