The Thank You Foundation along with members of the Ohio Patriot Guard Riders to hold fundraiser for soldier diagnosed with cancer.

Proceeds to benefit U.S. Army Staff Sergeant James Martin and other Troops and Veterans in need of support

CINCINNATI - May 12th 2008 - The Thank You Foundation in conjunction with members of the Patriot Guard Riders of Ohio today announced plans to honor the service of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant James Martin by holding a fundraiser on Saturday June 14th. Martin an Audie Murphy Award Winner and Colerain Township resident has been diagnosed with cancer and proceeds from the event will benefit him and his family as well as other soldiers and veterans in need of support.

"James and his family are going through a very challenging time in their life and we want to honor his service and provide them with some level of security and comfort" said Foundation President John Guinn. "In addition we want SSG Martin to know that his service is appreciated and we hope that the Cincinnati community will show the kind of support for its heroes as it has in the past. In addition the Foundation hopes to raise awareness of the issues facing other Veterans and the families of Active Duty Personnel.

Guinn added "The Martins are exceptional people and it is their desire that this event benefit other Veterans and Service Members as well. They have seen it first hand and know that sometimes the system fails. They also know that there are a number of those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan that in need of assistance."

The event will be held form 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturday June 14th at VFW Post 1069 on 1367 Hicks Boulevard in Fairfield. The event will include live entertainment from Southern Rock band Leaving 99 with a special guest appearance by B105's Bill Whyte. A donation of $25.00 per person or $35.00 per couple will include entertainment and food. A silent auction will also be held to help raise funds.

Reservations may be made by calling Mary Jo Rose at 513-737-9885 or by using this link.

The Foundation has worked with Tonya Chambers and Terri Monnin of the Ohio PGR to plan the event and Fusion Alliance has signed on to sponsor the evening.

Guinn also stated, "While the evening is focused on the service of SGG Martin, not all of the people the Foundation attempts to provide assistance to are from Cincinnati. One should keep in mind that these men and women served to fight for and protect the United States and not a specific town or community. We are fortunate here. Cincinnati has shown a lot of support for its military community, but it's not like that everywhere. We also have one of the better VA Hospitals in the country. However that should not stop us from reaching out beyond our particular community and help those in need or by looking for other ways to provide support and care for our heroes."
