NOVATO, California -- The Thank You Foundation recently honored World War II veteran William Gross Jr. along with his wife, Jean Gill, of Novato, Calif., as a way of helping them celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and recognizing their service to America. Gross served as a translator with the 87th Infantry Division during the war while Jean Gill worked for the U.S.O. in Washington, D.C.

The Gross' daughter, Susan Kight, contacted The Thank You Foundation after she had read an article in The Cincinnati Enquirer about The Thank You Foundation and Rep. Jean Schmidt honoring two local veterans who were celebrating their Diamond anniversary. Kight asked about doing something similar for her parents on their special occasion.

"We really wanted to help Susan honor her parents but since they live in California, we were not sure if we could go about it properly," John Guinn, Founder and President of The Thank You Foundation, said.

"But with some work, we were able to contact the City Council of Novato and arrange for the Mayor to present the Gross's with Certificates of Appreciation and foundation Thank You cards."

Guinn added, "It is such a pleasure to reach out to individuals like William and Jean Gill and honor their lives. We look forward to expanding the foundation to other states so we may continue our Mission of Appreciation and share in the experiences of U.S. Veterans everywhere."
