The Thank You Foundation sends wounded soldier to Redskins - Giants game

Tickets offered through the Foundations "Tickets for Troops" program

WASHINGTON DC - September 22, 2007 - On Saturday as part of The Thank You Foundations Tickets for Troops program, D.C. Thank You Foundation volunteers, Ammie Dover and Joel Dulashanti, presented two tickets to Sunday's Washington Redskins - New York Giants football game to Specialist Travis Sigmon, a Cavalry Scout from the 5/73rd Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition of 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

Specialist Sigmon from Eaton North Carolina was injured by an IED in June of this year and is currently undergoing physical and occupational therapy at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

The tickets were donated to The Thank You Foundation by Cathleen Mann of Darrestown Maryland after reading about the Foundation and its programs.

Joel Dulashanti who is also undergoing treatment and therapy for wounds received in Afghanistan in May of this year met Specialist Sigmon while staying at the Mologne House. Dulashanti started volunteering with The Thank You Foundation, based in Cincinnati Ohio, after the Foundation conducted a benefit for him on September 15th of this year. Dulashanti has said that he wants to work more with the Foundation and be able to help others as he has been helped.

Dover along with Pamela Ensminger another D.C. area volunteer of the Foundation have been talking with Joel and his wife Lindsey about conducting regular visits to Walter Reed and the Mologne House. Dover stated, "It was an honor to present the tickets to Specialist Sigmon. I look forward to visiting on a regular basis to help The Thank You Foundation continue its Mission of Appreciation in the D.C. area."

The Thank You Foundation also recently donated tickets to University of Maryland football games to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed. Ensminger is a season ticket holder of the Terrapins and occasionally donates her tickets as a gesture of appreciation for those recovering at the facility.

Ensminger said "We would really like to build up The Tickets for Troops" program and be able to express our gratitude to more of our Veterans."

Foundation President and Founder John Guinn stated, "We have received requests from all over the country for tickets and we have tried to honor as many of them as we can. We are dependent upon individual and corporate contributions so we fulfill requests when resources are available." Guinn added,"we always consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to say Thank You to those who have given so much for our freedom. It was so very gracious of Cathleen to offer the tickets and we are fortunate to be able to offer them to such a fine young man."

As part of the "Tickets for Troops" program The Thank You Foundation offers complimentary tickets to sporting and entertainment events when they are made available, as an expression of appreciation to Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Foundation encourages donations of tickets to any kind for sporting events, concerts, theatre, festivals, and movies. In Cincinnati the Foundation recently partnered with Enjoy the Arts to offer a program where individuals could purchase memberships that included tickets to arts and cultural activities to be given to Veterans and their families.

The Foundation believes that providing the tickets is sometimes therapeutic to those who are suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or whose financial situation may not give them the opportunity to attend an event while on leave. It is the hope of the Foundation to be able to expand the program to show gratitude for all Veterans and their families.
